So it was our first bazaar/flea market experience over the weekend at YWCA Fort Canning Lodge! As you can see above, it's Maggie busy with the last minute touch up here and there while I'm happy taking plenty of photos!
Petite Rouge Rose is your one-stop shop and (dare we say) runaway preview to all trends we reckon will take off (all puns intended). The clothes, the make-up, the skincare, the travel, the people and their culture! Basically we crunch the (good, bad, ugly and often absurd) trends and deliver to you wearable, stylish and oh-so-chic pieces. More importantly, we deliver how others (other mortals i mean) and ourselves will snatch these pieces off those racks and parade with pride.

What are you up to on the 18th?
This is what we've been up to! Christmas Bazaar by YWCA!
I wonder if you ever get sick of shopping at the malls? I do. No, seriously I do. I guess once you've lived in places like Singapore and perhaps Hong Kong, where we get a new shopping mall every few months, you'd get so used to getting your stuff at a one-stop shop (thank God for air conditioning!). Perhaps like me, you're looking for something similar, something different. You love the sheltered and air conditioned bits, but you hate the same-old same-old you always see in every mall! You know you gonna love this bazaar! It's fully air conditioned but you'll get to see all the interesting merchandise!! Let alone those yummy cakes and cookies!
I've been to a couple of outdoor bazaars and flea markets (e.g. Perth Upmarket) and I love them all! I'm expecting this to be as good as, if not better than those I've been! Not to mention, we are expecting to see you there!
Here's another one!

Your thoughts on shoes?
I wonder what are your thoughts on shoes. Hmm. Some time back in November, I posted a video featuring New York Magazine about What Men Think of Women's Shoes (Click here for the video!). I think I might just have outdo myself, I mean outdo my previous post!
Look at these design! (Note: These images do not belong to PetiteRoseRouge, Maggie or Nicky, nor are we affiliated to the designers. These images are taken from Kovi Levi, and they can be found in his blog http://kobilevidesign.blogspot.com/.
So what do you guys think? Personally I love his designs! Particularly the chewing gum! Such a conversational item! Wish this was retailing in Australia or Singapore, well may be US instead. Will be such a hit! I don't know about you, but I'm keeping a tab on more of his designs!

Zumanity by Cirque du Soleil - Waterbowl
I can't seem to publish the full trailer perhaps because of the mature content. But here's a segment of the show. If you're interested, go to for the full trailer. And this was one of the better shows available!
What I like and miss about Vegas....
Just so you know that I'm stuck in the dorm of the University of Canterbury and it's 2340 and I'm a little jetlagging since I come from +GMT8.00, so it hit me that I miss Vegas. Yes I do!
I know I know, who misses Vegas at all?! People miss New York City, LA, may be even San Francisco! And I can imagine you giving me "the eye". But seriously I do.
I suppose part of why I miss Vegas is the glittery night lights (yes I'm like a moth attracted to fire in that sense) and unpretentious people, albeit most are tourists so how unpretentious they can get right? But still, the thing about Vegas is once you are there, you know you're in for a fun time and so are others! Everyone's relaxed and every other people you met is a tourist, even the people working there are really out to make sure you are having a great time! Food is cheap and excellent! A friend of mine brought us to M Resort where we pay USD25 for a international and seafood buffet (ooohh, the snow crabs, oysters, mussels, sushi, roast and those yummy desserts) with unlimited wine and beer. Not just that, accommodation's not too bad if you choose to live slight off the strip! I paid USD50 per night at a resort stay that's self-contained and fully equipped! Steam room, swimming pool, gym and tennis courts. There's even free shuttles to take you on and off the Strip!
I'm not a gambler but I didn't feel left out! Each and every casino has its own attraction and character! I, for one, loves Caesars Palace, Venetian and MGM. There's so much to see and absorb. Another plus point is Vegas is cleaner than NYC, and may be LA too.
I was lucky to see the other side of Vegas lifestyle, it's not all so glamourous and glittery. My friend took us to a suburb where families gather at the green near a mall, listening to live bands. Yup these were young families with toddlers and babies.
But I must say Vegas does live up to its name! All the things you see and hear, such as the girls in their tiny dresses that leaves nothing to the imagination as well as boys with their booze. It's crazy and yet safe if you know what I mean. I could, which we did, walk down the Strip past midnight, feeling rather safe and yet see all those crazy and raunchy stuff happening around us. Everything's big, loud and in your face! You can't miss it! All I can say is, "Long Live Vegas!" and if you haven't been there, you ought to! You may not like it, but you gonna enjoy it anyway. That's Vegas for you!
I'm gonna be posting this show that I really wanted to watch when I was in Vegas, but we missed it and couldn't get other tickets (that was really upsetting). Lo and behold, cover your eyes if you're under 18 or not mature enough to handle it! -Wink wink!

It's a Christmas bazaar and I believe it's a charity event. So till I get more information, be sure to check in! We are really excited as this is our first bazaar for this blog! You gonna see pieces of what we've put up here and so much more! There's also this vest that has so much character and this and that! My oh my! Besides, it's for a good cause so why not swing by on the Saturday before Christmas and cop hold of some last minute goodies! We won't tell Santa, you've been a good kid all year!

Flea market, swap meet, or trash and treasure?
I wonder how many of you are fans of flea markets. I know at least Maggie and I are, and plenty of our friends too! I love all sorts of flea markets, big or small. Or rather, in general, I just love the bazaars! Particularly the defunct 湘阳市场 (Xiang Yang Shi Chang) in Shanghai, China; Queen Vic Market in Melbourne, Australia and Paddy's Market in Sydney, Australia. Notice the markets listed above are not considered flea market.
In Singapore, it appears that we termed flea market quite loosely. For example, ask any good old Singapore where's the flea market/s, they are likely to point you to Sungei Road Thieves Market. These days, our flea markets do not sell anything old (and useless). I mean, look at Zouk's Flea and Easy, Clarke Quay Sunday Flea Market, the flea markets at Tanglin Mall, and so many others! Our flea markets are more like bazaars where you are likely to find the arty-farty and their crafts, the well-travelled and their junk, and perhaps the occasional participants with their pre-loved! There's just something about bazaars and the people there that makes it so colourful and oh-so-inviting!
So why exactly am I babbling about flea markets and all? A few posts earlier we mentioned about some flea market? It's coming your way!! 18th Dec 2010 falls on a Saturday and that happens to be the day!! Make a mark on your calendar!!!! More details coming right up. Meanwhile, I'm gonna be posting videos about my favourite bazaars. Any I should be sharing?

Old Spice | The Man Your Man Could Smell Like
"Hello ladies..."
You got to watch this video! A new friend I met while in LA, who's into advertising and online marketing, directed me to watch this ad that came out in Super Bowl 2010. If you don't know what's Super Bowl, like myself, check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Bowl.
I'll post the interview about two people had this ingenious idea! You'll be surprised at how whiteboarding is a huge thing, especially in Googleplex! How do I know? Of course I do, I've been to Googleplex at Mountain View, California! More the next time!
TWiT Specials: The making of Old Spice's commercial: The Man Your Man Co...

Autumn looks?
So it's the end of summer ey? Witness the change in the atmosphere yet? Those crunchy looking brown leaves? The withering of flowers? It's funny how I've never experienced a proper four seasons at all. Granted that I lived in Singapore pretty much my first 21 years and spent the last 3 years in Australia (where we get winter in June and summer in Dec). The autumn in Perth (where I am, and where I have been) is almost undetectable. It's as though you wake up one morning and feel that autumn chill and the crisp smell in the air. Just like that.
Apart from our extreme Winter and Summer in June and December, for most of the time it's generally dry and windy. I bet you fellow Singaporeans can't imagine it. It's basically sunny, clear blue sky and the chilly wind. If it's summer, it's basically the same, except that the air is hot and flies are around. Oh yeah, the flies just stick on you and/or your clothes, or they'll just fly around you. No they don't bite or sting, they just enjoy piggy-backing you for a ride. Ahh. Summer daze.
Anyhoo, figure out that I/we should follow the majority, so here we present my/our favourite YouTube subscription, Michelle Phan and her autumn looks.

so, the thing about New York City..
don't let those movies, tv shows, articles and whatever's out there to fool you. I remember watching and reading a lot about NYC, particularly since SATC came out and blew my socks away! NYC is not as dangerous as they put it to be and it's certainly not as clean as in SATC or any other movie (risk being bitten by bed bugs or carrying bed bugs as you go)! It shouldn't be a City that Never Sleeps too (City of Bed Bugs maybe?)! Quite frankly, apart from those clubs/bars and eating place, NYC's pretty dead. But I must say though there's plenty to do there! At any one point you could be deciding which parties, events, exhibitions or whatever you want to head to. To make things worse, all of these are oh-so-very-exciting!!
HOWEVER!!!.... It's not about what you see, but how you feel right? Never judge a book by its cover! The people in NYC are extremely extremely extremely friendly! Particularly if you are holding on to a map and carrying some too-cool cameras! I met so many kind people giving us directions, telling us where to head to blah blah blah. One thing's for sure, New Yorkers love their city very very much. I can see why, really. Apart from the filth, it's got a lot of character and vibes to it. Perhaps the filth adds even more charm?
At this point, I must say, I heart Times Square, Broadway and Fifth Avenue!
Anyhoo, I should be talking about Fashion, shouldn't I? I would love to take pictures of actual New Yorkers and post them up. But I didn't as I didn't want to risk getting bash up or that annoyed look, so instead I'm gonna put up some links and perhaps videos.
Oh oh oh!!! Men in New York... -wink wink! you should see the smile on my face right now! I feel right at home with all my eye candy! Particularly SoHo! All the men in those slick geeky glasses and that I'm-too-cool-for-school look! Ho ho ho! Men in New York is nothing like those in Vegas (duh! Yes I get it) and LA. San Franc comes close to them. I'll tell you why the next round!
P/s: So I didn't get to rectify my technology issues. Arghs!
P/p/s: Mag and I are planning a flea market stall somewhere in Dec! With all our beautiful clothes you've seen so far! Watch out for the details!

The thing about travelling is....
Unstable Internet network, connection and inaccessibility and lack of computers/laptops/smart phones!
No seriously!!! I mean it! So, I've been in US for about 3 weeks now (yeah yeah, lucky me! i know that!). But during this time, I'm barely connected to the Internet because it's expensive for travellers like myself (USD 15 for 15 mins) and also, despite the availability of WiFi, the lack of laptops to connect to is another headache! Most WiFi in the hotels are not available to smart phone (yes I know! how ridiculous this is! Time to catch up!!). You know what...? As a result of my lack of connectivity or quite simply the instability of technology, I lost out on an opportunity regarding my future!! Yes you read this right! I've been victimised and caught in between all these! (I'm pretty upset about this, but I really shouldn't babble on.)
Lesson learnt, please please please always check on your emails and make sure connectivity is not a big issue for you! I may sound mammoth for saying is, but how much exactly can we depend on technology, Internet and connectivity!?
But I must say I'm not all that Luddite, I consider myself Neo-Luddite if it makes much sense to you. I'm quite interested in technology and all that gadgets to make my life simpler and better (whatever these two means!). However, I'm not obsessed! If something's cool and new, I generally try it and consider adopting it, e.g. Foursquare. But like most people I know, scalability is a big issue. I'll adopt whatever's new if I have most friends on it! Like the transition from Friendster (oh god how phenomenal it was at that point!) to Facebook!
Okay, I'm derailing from my point (I'm just really upset at how we have evolved but certain mechanisms and structures haven't).
The GOOD thing about travelling is...... of course the people and their culture (by using 'the' and 'their,' I may be segregating or dividing people but I don't mean it in that way of course!). The way people live their lives and how they dress! The swanky New Yorkers, the lavish and over-the-top Vegas party-goers, the glamourous LA insiders and the laid-back culture vultures in San Franc! All the chic-ness (is there such a word? Hmm.)!! I don't promise photos but I'll post some blogs or websites to illustrate my point! Check us out in a couple of days again! I promise to blog what I mean!
In actual fact, I think I miss USA for its people and diversity! Oh by the way, did I mention social network's such a huge thing there! It's amazing I tell you!
Anyhoo, XOXO for now! - Nicky.
P/s: This post was supposed to be in yesterday from San Franc airport (14 Oct) but of course technology fails me once again!

Good bye Summer and Hello, Autumn,
Autumn has always been my favourite time of the year, Romantic, cooler weather, the thought of a cuppa waiting for me etc, it just fills me up with endless anticipation. And also very importantly an excuse to overhaul my wardrobe. A lame excuse perhaps( considering I used to trawl every streets in the city, looking for surprises, my husband used to roll his eyes at my weekly purchases but after a while he admitted defeat and often succumbed to my endless pleas of helping me pick up clothing that I have pre order!) a ritual that I never fail to carry out when I am in Shanghai. Although back in Singapore now for a couple of years, I still pick my stuff according to seasons! ( In my imaginary world, Singapore do have 4 seasons!!!)
But I am forever "lacking" something in my closet. I have taken to going through magazines phrase and searching for that " perfect " item that is going to levitate me to fashion goddess. But I have since come to a conclusion that there is no such thing as the perfect piece or item that will bring me to that goddess level. Instead, I realised that instead of blindly following trends,I might as well wear my idea on me!

Oh You Sexy Little Wild Girl! All that Lace and Satin!
Hands up to those who has a secret obsession with OLs! In case you fall under the minority categories who doesn't even know what it stands for, Office Ladies. Haven't you caught up with Mad Men? Tsk tsk tsk, you don't know what you're missing out!
But but but! Don't worry, that's what we are here for! All you sexy kittens! Those librarian glasses and red hot lips haven't caught up with you yet eh?
Oh gawd, will you look at that! A short dress well-tailored at the right places! You can't help but feel a little sexy yourself. And the colour!! Nothing says tackier than black lace on white, or black lace on red! However, nothing says more sophisticated than its distant cousin combination! Black lace on beige! Think double Cs! Must we say more??
At SGD 32, in sizes S, measuring at (26 inches below the bust, length of the dress is 35 inches). If you don't get this piece, we really don't know what you would get.
Think kitten heels! Think cat eye glasses! Or simply wide-eye make up! Think curls! Think beige or black shoes. Think a tiny little handbag.
But if you think you are gonna restrict this dress to just the office, oh gawd you are so so so wrong!! Ever been to a Sat/Sun matinee? Maybe a Wed cocktail? Or Friday happy hours? May be some fine restaurant overlooking the beautiful skyline? Oh dear, the possibilities are endless!! For one, I would wear this on a Sat afternoon to the City for brunches with the girls. Perhaps meeting your sweetheart after brunch for a walk in the museum or the bookstore.
What's a girl gotta do without a dress like this?!!
Labels:
beige dress,
black lace,
bookshop,
brunch,
cat eye,
Chanel,
cocktails,
Coco,
happy hours,
kitten heels,
Mad Men,
matinee,
museum,
red lips,
sexy office lady
Colour Blocks!
Ahhh. Finally the lazy girl's dress to all things fabulous. We don't know about you, but myself (N) is personally obsessed with colour blocks and dresses like this! Ask M and she'll probably give you a better estimate than myself. Secretly I think my obsession is rubbing off on her too!
And what a combination!! Think black and white!! In our last post, we talked about how black lace on white can be tacky? Of course I feel the need to clarify lest you think we are hypocrites or something. When I mean black on white, I mean BLACK LACE on WHITE Satin. not BLACK LACE AND WHITE Cotton! besides, this is cream white not obscenely blazing white!
A little frills at the front! Nothing much, nothing too tacky, too ugly. But everything easy and oh-so-chic! At SGD 32, with sizes S, measuring at (24 inches at the waist, length of the dress is 34 inches). Can anything get better than this? Haven't you guys always complain about being lazy blah blah blah? This is your answer!
We don't even know what shall we add for more looks! I mean, a blazer, a shacket (shirt as jacket), silver bangles and bracelets, ballet pumps, nude lips, sculptured face and what more?
WHAT exactly are you waiting for?? C'mon, we're a mere click or two away! Say Hello to the dress, wouldn't you? And tell us how would you wear it!
(Black) Tutu!! Tutu!
Hello girls! Our sincere apologies for taking awhile to post up new stuff! but quite frankly all good things must wait ey? So so so, what do we have here for you?
Something a little cute, a little child-like, a little rock-n-roll, a little sweet and a little in-between. Haven't you always wanted a tutu? Even as a child! Remember your envy when you see your friends attending ballet classes and how you wish you had those pink or white ones?
Well well, come back to something a little more recent, perhaps as you grew older but you never really can grow out of that ballerina spirit!
Please... allow us to introduce you to something better than those oh-so-cutesy tutes that they try to pull it on you. A BLACK TUTU!
So you may ask, how is this better??? Need we say more? The cut, the fabric and the colour! Comes in sizes (8 and 10), measuring at (28 inches at the waist for the size 8, 29 inches at the waist for size 10, Length of dress is at a cute 15 inches). Don't you ever envy Carrie Bradshaw in every episode opening???
HA! I think you'll rock this better than she does! Going for SGD22, you can team it up with so many things!!! I think I regret not getting one for myself. =(
Allow me to lay the options for you:
1) Team it with a white tank top, preferably something like singlet. A little masculine cut. Wear it with rows and rows and rows of pearls of black, grey, green and white.
2) Like the model, wear it with an absolute feminine top to flaunt your lady side. After all, isn't this all about you being you? Stack on bangles! The more the merrier!! Think gold, silver and wood.
3) Wear all black! Tees, singlets whatever. Draw your cat eyes and smack on some red lips. Rock the town! Paint it red!! Oh, and those stilettos please! May we say the higher the better? Think skull, hearts and tattoos!
4) Try Option 1 with a masculine cut blazer! A boyfriend jacket but fitted cut! Wear an interesting pair of shoes with those strings coiling your pints! Wear your hair up and high!
Ohhh! So many options running through my head! What else can you think of? Going at SGD22, how can you stop short of a skirt like this?

Fashion from the Sunshine Coast (and we don't mean Queensland/AU)!
It is with extreme excitement that we present to you a very good news! In Oct/Nov, we may be planning to bring in some items from U.S., may be its style or inspiration! Whatever it is, stay on the watch! You wouldn't know what's coming your way!

Hello Beautiful (Florals)!
Remember that dress you need but never seem to be able to find? Particularly in the moment when you need it so badly for a first date? The dress that says you are sweet, a little sexy, all things nice, sugar and spice? That dress demure enough to take you through awkward bump-intos yet tells someone that you're out having a fab time with someone special?
Is this not the dress for you? Enough frills to keep you sweet and enough tailoring to imagine your spice.
If you like icing cupcakes, you may consider wearing multi-layered pearl necklace? or simply a pearl stud earrings?
If, however, you are all cinnamon and poppyseed, may I recommend a statement necklace? may be a cutout of something cute. like your name, or favourite words?
But but but, please do not restrict this dress only to dates! It's too pretty to be out only just a couple of times. Like you, it needs to see and be seen!!
A long cardigan in cream or white would take you through the day in the office. Don't you dare think it's too bland for the night! Try it just on its own and accessorise it. You'll never know where it'll take you!
At 32 SGD (excluding standard postage of $1.50), find us at ABOUT ME! Sizes in 8 (Measurements: Bust 32",Waist 26", Length 28.5") and in Size 10 (Measurements; Bust 34", Waist 28", Length 30") Material: 100% Polyester. We have 2 pieces in these sizes only!
Pleather dress.
Remember that Angelina Jolie moment some time ago down the red carpet? That moment just after the world watched Mr and Mrs Smith? That moment where Team Jennifer (aka Mag and I) boo for her but yet ogle that LEATHER dress she was wearing?

Leopard preenz? No way! It's Leopard PRINTS!
So I bet you remember that infamous moment about leopard preenz? That moment that stunned the fashion community and momentarily cripple a once-evergreen item? Fear no more! Fear not people calling it "preenz" or associating it with some thing only our havoc mums would wear.
Leopard Prints can be sophisticated and even be the best bet you ever made! Think about it, has it been a time where it was never a must-have? think Autumn/Winter collection? some times it even spills over to Spring/Summer with those Khaki/Light brown/Cream/White tones?
Really, can you rein your wildness? We know we can't. That is why we present to you another one-piece only in size M (Measurements: Bust 30", Waist 27", Length 37").
I would belt it with a dark brown high-waist belt. or hang wooden-beaded necklace. may be a stack of wooden bangles on both arms. would also consider wedges in similar brown/black colours?
Do a messy bun, may be a little green eye shadow? If that doesn't work, I don't know what will.
At 32 SGD (excluding standard postage of $1.50), what more can you ask for?

Our Grand Plan!
Hello, if U are starting to read to read this, Congratulations! U are our of the first few to hear about our grand plan. Starting from today, we will be introducing a series of clothing that we feel that are under appreciated. And we are hoping that through us, U will get the first taste of the season's finest trends and styles. We will be bringing in limited pieces of items in different sizes. And they are what U would find in our wardrobe. Nothing too expensive, just a little fancy!
And in the not too far future, we hope to pull in some precious, pre loved items from our very own closet. They will be sold for in a green or red note (Singapore Dollars for now). We promised them to be in good wearable conditions, after all we ain't the Salvation Army.
Less talk, more actions. Photos coming up in next few days.
